Simple Steps in Managing Gout Attack Pains
If you are like me who’s overweight and may have been drinking alcoholic
beverages more than the moderately, and have been having issues in maintaining
your cholesterol, there’s a high chance that you will have gout pain in your foot or
you are already experiencing it.
Before I started my sessions of shockwave therapy for my foot, I often
wake up in the middle of the night because of a severe pain in the joint of my
toe and it was as if I won’t be able to move it anymore. Well, it was just me.
There are other people who are also having gout pain on their knees, wrists,
and even fingers.
And as an average person who lives in Singapore, I am blessed to have a lot of centres where I can have a
non-invasive gout treatment or therapy that helped a lot to ease and eliminate
the pain cause by gout.
But there are times, mostly in the middle of the night, when the gout pain in my foot is making it
impossible for me to move. I have come up with a lot of personal remedies to at
least manage the pain and stop it from aching.
Generally, a gout pain eases on its own and it somehow subsides in time.
But if you are a “regular” of this situation, you would want to make it stop.
Here are some of the simple steps that I learned through time which you
can also do to manage your gout attack pains.
Go to a doctor. Well, this is basic. You cannot just assume that what you have is
gout unless the doctor confirms it. Even if the symptoms are related to having
gout, you still need to make sure of it. Only a proper consultation can help
heal you faster.
Stay in bed. You’re already in pain, so why move? If it’s unnecessary to move
around the house, just stay in your bed to keep the gout pain away. Relax your body so the joints will not inflame
more.
Cold compress. Since gout is an inflammation, it will help tame the affected joint
by putting ice on it. It’s a natural remedy that you can do by yourself, and
it’s effective. It will somehow tone down the swelling.
Go bare… foot. Do not lock the affected foot on any clothing or, worse, shoes. Keep
it naked so it’s not crushing the toe which can be more painful. Also,
squeezing the foot with a gout can make it worse.
Eat right. Ok, so you are already experiencing gout pain in your feet,
I guess that’s already enough reason to lay low on foods that are high in
animal protein and alcohol content. Thus, limit your meat intake and avoid
alcoholic drinks.
Water works. As any other illnesses, water also help the gout pain to disappear.
It flushes the uric acid crystals out of your system. So, instead of drinking
too much alcohol, drink more water.
Visit a gout treatment
facility. The pain may be inevitable but
self-discipline is controllable. Seriously, it really helps to have a regular
shockwave or ultrasound gout treatment because it can help lessen the attacks.
Make sure to visit one from time to time. Just keep a little patience and the
pain should just go away.
Always remember that the sooner you start the treatment and the sooner
you manage the pain, the faster you’ll heal.
